Senior Counsel, Professional Liability & Litigation

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution
  • Own and oversee active and pending litigation, coordinating with outside counsel, carrier partner counsel, and internal stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes.
  • Prepare and defend our experts for/in depositions and attend mediations.
  • Regulatory & Compliance
  • Respond to subpoenas, regulatory inquiries, and document/file requests, determining appropriate scope of production while safeguarding privileged and confidential information.
  • Partner with internal teams to identify, collect, and review documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Risk Mitigation & Advisory
  • Provide proactive legal guidance on professional liability exposures and risk strategies tied to business operations.
  • Advise leadership on legal, regulatory, and operational matters impacting the enterprise.
  • Manage occasional trademark matters.
  • Process & Contracts
  • Review, draft, and provide input on negotiation of commercial contracts (client, vendor, and service agreements) across business and functional areas.
  • Support the development and implementation of enterprise-wide legal and compliance processes, including document retention, file content, and records management;
  • Provide training and education on same.

What You Bring

  • Education & Licensing
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing
  • Experience:
  • 10+ years in insurance services, claims handling, TPA, and/or expert services, with a focus on:
  • Professional liability
  • Insurance defense
  • Litigation management
  • Collaboration with outside counsel, carriers, and intermediary legal partners
  • Hands-on experience with subpoenas, document requests, and complex productions
  • Contract lifecycle management: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
