Responsibilities
- Collaborate with scientists to identify patentable materials
- Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications globally
- Conduct prior art searches to support patentability assessments
- Analyze existing patents and create freedom-to-operate opinions
- Perform due diligence for licensing opportunities
- Negotiate and draft research agreements with partners
- Advise R&D and business teams on IP-related legal matters
- Assist in litigation, including patent challenges and defenses
Qualifications
- J.D. or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school, with U.S. bar admission
- 4+ years of experience in intellectual property law
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- 10+ years of patent or IP law experience preferred, especially in biotechnology
- Advanced degree (master's or Ph.D.) in organic or medicinal chemistry preferred
- Strong communication, legal drafting, and analytical skills essential
- Experience with adversarial patent proceedings is a plus
Pay
$250,321 – $338,670 annually
