For our client, we are seeking a Senior Counsel - IP, Product and Privacy to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will lead the company’s intellectual property, product, and privacy legal work in support of innovative technology solutions. The selected candidate will partner closely with engineering, leadership, and external advisors to help protect products, manage risk, and strengthen governance across the organization. This is a highly cross-functional position with meaningful exposure to AI, data, and hardware/software development environments. The position also plays an important role in advancing privacy-by-design practices, supporting regulatory readiness, and helping the business make informed decisions on IP strategy and compliance. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually Responsibilities Manage the intellectual property portfolio in collaboration with the CTO Oversee patent and trademark drafting and prosecution efforts Implement privacy-by-design principles across product lifecycles Advise on regulatory compliance and risks related to AI and video data Ensure adherence to corporate governance and compliance frameworks Deliver training on IP protection and privacy compliance to business units Foster cross-functional alignment with governance policies Qualifications 10+ years of senior legal experience in IP, AI, and data privacy frameworks Experience in hardware, software, AI, or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) technologies Strong expertise in patent capture, trade secret management, and portfolio monetization In-depth knowledge of PIPEDA, CCPA, GDPR, and municipal data privacy regulations Proven ability to manage external counsel effectively Excellent communication skills to engage with engineering and leadership teams Self-starter with high ethical standards and a results-driven problem-solving approach Active member in good standing with a Canadian provincial or U.S. state bar Benefits Comprehensive health benefits with virtual healthcare access RRSP/401K matching plan and variable incentive plan Flexible vacation policy and additional time to recharge Flexible work options with internet subsidy and remote work allowance Enhanced parental leave benefits to support work-life balance Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
