Senior Product Designer

Position Overview

We're building Leap Crew, an agentic platform for the trades, and it's the biggest product bet at Leap. The idea: the software captures the work as it happens, AI agents absorb the routine data-entry and busywork contractors pay for with their time today, and the contractor stays in control the whole way. Done right, it hands a roofer or a window installer back hours of their week.

The design canvas here is wide open. Leap Crew has no dedicated designer yet, which means its interaction model is still largely yours to define. How do you make an AI agent something a contractor actually trusts with their business? What does it show when it's unsure? What happens when it's wrong in front of a homeowner? Those questions don't have textbook answers yet. We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to help write them.

The people you design for run real businesses in demanding conditions. A rep closing a $30,000 job at a kitchen table. An installer in a truck with bad signal. An owner deciding whether to trust a number the software just generated. Get the design right and you move their close rate, their cash flow, and how confidently they grow. Get it wrong and they feel it fast. AI raises the stakes on both sides: done well it's a real advantage for the contractor, done carelessly it erodes trust that took years to earn.

What You’ll Own

  • The end-to-end design vision for the platform, including the north-star artifacts (experience principles, concept designs, future-state flows) that give the team a shared target
  • The agentic experience itself, the heart of this role: how the system proposes work, how a contractor reviews and overrides it, its error and low-confidence states, and how control stays with the human even as the agent does more
  • A continuous research practice with ongoing relationships with the contractors piloting the platform, well beyond a formal session cadence
  • The quality conscience for the experience: contractor-ready set before development, defended at release, and post-launch contractor signal treated as a leading indicator rather than a lagging report
  • The design system for a new product: proposing the components and patterns the rest of the team will build on
  • Design strategy that shapes what the team builds next, not just how it looks
  • Raising the craft bar of the designers around you: specific critique that makes their work better, and direct mentorship when the team has more junior designers

How We Work

  • We frame the problem, we don't just fill orders. At this level you're expected to identify the problems worth solving across your area, using research across themes to articulate a coherent set of opportunities, not to decorate a spec someone hands you.
  • We use AI to amplify, never to skip the hard part. Day to day, you'll use AI to explore far more directions than used to be possible, stand up working prototypes (including live agent behavior) to pressure-test ideas before engineering commits, and pull patterns out of research faster than by hand. You set the standard for how the rest of the team uses it. You hold AI-assisted work to the same validation rigor as everything else: output that looks impressive but isn't grounded in a real contractor problem doesn't count.
  • We build quality in, not on. "Contractor-ready" is a bar set before development, defended at release, and confirmed with real contractors after. You own that bar.
  • We pre-align so reviews are about real decisions. You'll get stakeholders oriented before formal design reviews so the room can focus on the hard calls. Pre-alignment is about shipping the right design, not sanding down every objection.
