Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal advisor for day-to-day guidance on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and employee separations.
- Advise Human Resources and leadership on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices.
- Draft and review employment-related agreements, policies, handbooks, and training materials.
- Manage employment, commercial, and other business-related disputes, claims, investigations, and litigation matters.
- Oversee outside counsel and develop practical strategies to mitigate legal risk and achieve favorable outcomes.
- Aid in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology, professional services, healthcare, real estate, and other operational contracts.
- Provide advice on healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, and other legal issues impacting the organization.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from a respected law school with strong academic record
- Admission to a U.S. state bar with an active license and compliance with requirements for in-house practice in the State of Kentucky
- Strong ethical background and commitment to integrity
- Flexibility and willingness to perform all levels of work
- Strong business judgment and ability to provide practical, risk-based legal advice
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience at top tier law firm or in-house
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
- Prior in-house counsel experience preferred
- Experience supporting healthcare organization preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and compliance issues including but not limited to Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, HIPAA and False Claims act
