Senior Cost Accountant
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant who can partner with Operations, Engineering, and Leadership to drive better business decisions through data-driven insights and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
Partner with Operations leadership to analyze business performance and profitability.
Identify trends, opportunities, and risks impacting margins and operational performance.
Develop reporting and analysis that supports data-driven decision making.
Help prioritize improvement opportunities across the business.
Maintain the standard cost system.
Analyze product costs, margins, and inventory valuation.
Support cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
Manage inventory reconciliations and excess/obsolete reserve calculations.
Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
Support audits and compliance requirements.
Maintain strong internal controls and financial discipline.
Partner with leaders across Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Commercial teams.
Drive alignment toward business and financial goals.
Help improve processes, reporting, and overall business performance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
Minimum of 4 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, product costing, and financial analysis.
Oracle experience strongly preferred; experience with large-scale ERP systems required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to build strong partnerships across multiple functions.
High level of accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
Qualifications
BS in Accounting
CPA preferred
7+ years of accounting experience
4+ years of cost accounting experience
Strong GAAP knowledge
Oracle experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to build strong partnerships
