Senior Corporate Safety & Health Specialist - Transmission & Distribution

This position leads the execution of the Burns & McDonnell Safety & Health program in collaboration with the Site Safety Management team and Corporate Offices, providing professional leadership and oversight for Safety & Health compliance matters.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute corporate and project Safety & Health initiatives to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace.
• Lead corporate and project safety policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with Local, State, and Federal OSHA rules and regulations.
• Manage all aspects of Safety & Health at multiple project sites to ensure contractual regulatory compliance by corporate employees and subcontractors.
• Lead Safety & Health personnel supporting field construction projects to assure safe operations.
• Identify and resolve unique project-specific Safety & Health issues.
• Provide advice, guidance, and direction to Site Safety personnel regarding safety and health issues and work practices.
• Create and validate project Safety & Health walk-through assessments and monitor conformance to drive continuous improvement.
• Document and resolve items requiring immediate correction.
• Distribute specific Safety & Health information to corporate and project locations.
• Generate memos relative to project safety and assist Site Safety personnel in implementing site-specific safety and health program goals.
• Design and conduct on-site training for project-specific Safety & Health subjects to ensure compliance with the site-specific program.
• Lead near-miss, property damage, environmental incidents, and accident investigation reporting, including implementation of corrective measures.
• Present to Corporate Safety & Health management regarding Project Safety & Health Program progress, challenges, and objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7 years of experience in a construction field environment required. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
• Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Construction and General Industry standards, ANSI, NIOSH, Army Corps of Engineers (CoE) EM 385-1, and National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Proficient in Windows-based platforms and basic computer skills.
• Previous experience as a Site Safety & Health representative on heavy industrial project locations preferred.
• Valid driver's license required due to travel to various locations.
• OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Outreach Construction Course required.
• Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) credential or another relevant safety certification issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals is preferred.
