Senior Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal
About the role
Amazon’s Legal Department is seeking a talented attorney to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a leading global provider of cloud computing services and IT infrastructure. This role will focus on AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) teams, which deliver customer-facing products for defense and intelligence use cases, hardware and logical security, supply chain resiliency, and infrastructure audit responses. The position involves a mix of product counseling, regulatory compliance, and security advisory in a high-impact, fast-growing area within AWS.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, interpret, and apply audit requirements, contract obligations, and regulations related to AIS hardware and supply chain security and resiliency.
- Advocate internally and with customers/regulators to shape requirements that align with cloud architecture and global supply chain needs.
- Support security incident response for AIS (3,600+ high-severity events annually; ~10% requiring legal involvement), often in high-stakes, time-sensitive situations.
- Lead customer contract reviews and negotiations, including crafting counterproposals for multi-billion-dollar transactions.
- Provide counseling for product launches, including transactional support for bespoke hardware and addressing compliance/privacy concerns.
- Develop compliance frameworks and mechanisms, such as automated supplier diligence tooling, ADC requirement tracking, and IP hygiene protocols.
- Counsel AIS leadership on legal and compliance risks, distill inputs from competing stakeholders, and drive high-stakes decisions under ambiguity.
- Manage and develop a small team of attorneys (currently 4), including coaching on promotion readiness and calibrating work product.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in a state bar or equivalent.
- 10+ years of post-bar admission legal experience.
- Experience in product counseling and regulatory work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, or cloud computing services.
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines.

Pay
Base salary range: $195,000.00 – $263,800.00 USD annually (USA, WA, Seattle). Additional compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
