About the role

Amazon’s Legal Department is seeking a talented attorney to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a leading global provider of cloud computing services and IT infrastructure. This role involves a blend of counseling and transactional support for teams dedicated to engineering, supply chain, and procurement of the technology that underpins AWS cloud services and customer solutions.

The position will handle a wide variety of transactions, including hardware and software development agreements, technology licensing, supply and procurement agreements, SaaS and hosted services agreements, and professional services agreements. You will collaborate directly with AWS teams to develop and launch new hardware, manage global supply chains, and address commercial, operational, legal, and intellectual property (IP) issues.

Additionally, this role includes developing standard operating procedures, forms, and internal policies, as well as delivering training and resources to business teams. Over time, you will help identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and contribute to long-term strategic planning for AWS infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business-line counseling to infrastructure engineering and supply chain teams to support the development, manufacture, deployment, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure technology globally.
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial and technology-related agreements, including development, supply, manufacturing services, software licensing, and other bespoke agreements.
  • Advise business partners on legal, commercial, operational, and other risks.
  • Develop and implement vendor engagement, contractual, and negotiation strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and resolve commercial, operational, compliance, regulatory, security, safety, legal, and customer/vendor issues.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of post-bar admission legal experience.
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the ethical considerations surrounding AI in the legal context, such as confidentiality, accuracy, and bias prevention.
  • Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, or cloud computing services.
  • Experience in Intellectual Property (IP) Law.

Pay

USA, WA, Seattle - $183,100.00 - $247,700.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
