About the role

Join OCI's Storage division as a Systems Engineer focused on designing, implementing, and optimizing components in distributed systems. You will partner with Product Management to define and deliver new capabilities, collaborate with senior architects, and operate a critical cloud service.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Management to define and deliver new capabilities addressing evolving customer needs and shaping the future of OCI's file storage solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior architects and engineering leaders to design, implement, and deliver scalable, high-performance storage solutions.
  • Design, develop, and optimize new features for OCI's high-performance, distributed file storage platform.
  • Operate and continuously improve a mission-critical Tier 1 cloud service, maintaining strict availability, performance, and reliability SLAs for our most strategic customers.
  • Work closely with compute, networking, and other infrastructure teams to identify and implement opportunities to improve scalability, performance, efficiency, and operational excellence across OCI.
  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing, helping them grow their skills and take on increasing ownership and responsibility.
  • Drive engineering excellence by contributing to architecture discussions, code reviews, testing strategies, and operational best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in system design, architecture, and implementation in distributed systems.
  • Experience with data plane platforms and distributed state tools for high-volume retrieval, storage, and processing.
  • Proven track record of building fault-tolerant systems, applying recovery-oriented principles, and implementing retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
  • Ability to proactively detect and mitigate issues via tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry.
  • Experience with automation/IaC for troubleshooting and maintenance, and advanced security controls (encryption, access, remediation).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to independently identify and address standard and non-standard issues, and contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Experience with compliance and security measures in multi-tenant environments, including encryption and access controls.
  • Ability to apply advanced security measures to protect data and applications in multi-tenant environments, and implement remediation plans to continuously improve security.
  • Experience with operational troubleshooting and incident management, including diagnosing, debugging, and resolving issues in system components.
  • Experience with automation scripts and tooling used to troubleshoot operational issues, and participation in operational support rotations.
  • Experience with change management plans for patching, updating, and rolling back applications.
  • Experience with tracking timelines with minimal supervision, prioritizing and adjusting work as resources or timelines change.
  • Experience collaborating across teams to align on expectations and achieve shared objectives, and building and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of business, stakeholder, and/or customer needs.

Pay

Hiring Range in USD: $79,200 - $209,500 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
