About the Role

MRM is part of the Omnicom Precision Marketing activation practice, integrating CRM platform expertise, journey management, and first-party data capabilities with creative excellence and performance capabilities. This role is for a Senior/Copywriter who will provide inspiration and leadership for the entire Creative Department, acting as a trusted consultant on all matters of language within the agency.

The first job of a copywriter is to have ideas, to see the world in a new way, and to share that unique vision with consumers in a way that they immediately understand. This role requires the ability to devise original, strategically sound, and persuasive copy aligned with client-approved direction, often working collaboratively with art resources.

Responsibilities

  • Attend briefing sessions and discuss brand, selling strategy, and the purpose of the brief with brand/project management teams.
  • Review incoming job starts, creative briefs, and other project initiation materials to ensure the team has the right information and sufficient time to deliver the best creative solution.
  • Challenge preconceptions and propose alternative approaches or solutions where necessary to achieve objectives identified in the brief.
  • Work with an Art Director, Creative Director (or alone, if necessary) to create appropriate concepts.
  • Prepare full copy upon approval of the concept by the account team and client.
  • Take responsibility for initial spell-checking and amendments to own copy based on client feedback.
  • Provide writing support and expertise across a wide variety of media.
  • Write up creative concepts for presentation to clients and internal teams.
  • Foster a team environment that facilitates the development of strategic and conceptual thinking, mutual respect, and teamwork.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with all team members.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of other agency teams (Strategic Planning, Digital, Account Management) and manage their involvement appropriately.
  • Ensure professional presentation of concepts.
  • Maintain effective communication with all relevant internal and external contacts.
  • Stay abreast of competitor creative work and market developments relevant to client accounts.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the client’s business and their competitors.
  • Solicit the right information upfront to deliver a better product the first time.
  • Provide pertinent information to team members on a timely basis.
  • Manage own time and output in line with deadlines and budgetary requirements.
  • Collaborate with other agency departments to identify potential award-winning campaigns.
  • Submit a daily timesheet detailing work execution.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with internal team members, vendors, and clients.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to ‘sell’ creative concepts to clients and agency staff.
  • Think and act strategically as a valuable contributor to the client team.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience within digital marketing or a comparable industry.
  • A portfolio is required to demonstrate creative skills.
  • Demonstrated judgment and imagination for creating advertisements.
  • Experience with online content (websites, email, OLA, etc.).
  • Experience with print pieces is a plus.
  • Experience in emerging platforms (mobile, tablets, etc.) is a plus.
  • Motivated, self-starter with an action-oriented and can-do attitude.
  • Capable of juggling multiple projects, sticking to deadlines, and ensuring high-quality, error-free output.

Schedule

Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager. The objective is to increase this requirement over time, with many agencies already requiring five days of in-office attendance.
