Senior Coordinator, R&D
Location: Fairfield County, CT (100% onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM EST
Type: Contract (potential for extension/conversion based on performance and business need)
Pay: $30-35/hr
About the role
A global healthcare organization is seeking a seasoned, confident, and tech-savvy Senior Coordinator to support the R&D department. This role provides high-level administrative and operational support to department leadership and the broader R&D team, with a strong focus on purchasing, budgeting, and office operations. The ideal candidate exercises sound judgment, safeguards confidentiality, and brings professionalism and a positive, adaptable attitude to a fast-paced, small-team environment where responsibilities shift day to day.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Buyer/Orderer for the department: manage the full purchase order lifecycle from requisition intake through issuance, tracking, receipt, and closure.
- Review and validate purchase requisitions for accuracy, budget alignment, and policy compliance.
- Generate and issue purchase orders in the ERP system, ensuring correct pricing, terms, and vendor details.
- Monitor open POs and maintain accurate records including updates, amendments, and cancellations.
- Serve as Office Manager for the department: oversee day-to-day office operations, coordinate workspace assignments and onboarding setup for new employees.
- Act as point of contact for internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and discretion.
- Coordinate and support team-wide projects, meetings, offsites, and events, including agendas, meeting materials, action items, and follow-up.
- Manage administrative processes such as org charts, department procedures, meeting logistics, headcount tracking, and onboarding support.
- Serve as central point of contact for the department, addressing routine questions and coordinating support needs.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in an administrative or buyer role, preferably within a global, matrixed healthcare or medical device environment (med device background not required).
- Proven ability to operate with high discretion and handle confidential/sensitive information.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Experience supporting global teams across multiple time zones.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
- ERP system experience a plus.
