Senior Controls Technician

About the Role

With safety as the top priority, the control technician is responsible for the installation, service, and maintenance of HVAC controls components and equipment, including HVAC control devices, low voltage wiring, conduit and terminations, control computing hardware and/or software, and related infrastructure elements.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and comply with all safety and health requirements, prioritizing personal and team safety at all times.
• Design, program, install, and maintain control computing hardware and/or software and related infrastructure elements to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Follow blueprints and/or engineering specifications to install, troubleshoot, and maintain control systems infrastructure, software, and equipment.
• Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products.
• Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
• Prepare for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering diagnostic data, and coordinating on-site work.
• Maintain equipment by inspecting for signs of wear and/or damage.
• Serve as a direct customer contact, representing the company professionally.
• Climb ladders, distinguish color wires, and bend frequently as part of job duties.
• Document work by completing paperwork for each job, including daily time, progress, and duration, and maintain files.
• Record parts, material, labor, subs, and other cost data per assignment and return unused resources.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; related Associate’s degree or technical/trade school education preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in construction and/or low voltage installation; IT & TCP/IP experience is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years of HVAC controls experience.
• Tridium experience preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license, auto insurance, auto registration, and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to respond to questions in person, in small groups, and in public settings with customers and colleagues.

Working Conditions

• Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and work in high, precarious places.
• Frequent auto travel required, including in hazardous weather conditions and other traffic-related risks.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear.
• Frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and bend frequently.
• Must be able to climb ladders and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, ability to distinguish color wires, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
