Job Overview

We have a Controls Engineer position available in our Albuquerque, NM office. This person will provide team leadership in delivering automation systems for a wide variety of industries.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either self-directedly or as a leader of a team.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet our customer's requirements.
  • Develop a control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams and system documentation, program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU), program HMI/SCADA, develop databases for archiving/historical data, and implement/commission the control system at the client's facility.
  • Knowledge of controller programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and others to achieve desired results is required. Knowledge of standard programming languages such as VBA, .NET, and SQL for HMI/SCADA systems is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.) for larger systems is preferred.
  • Design, detail, and implement a variety of fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols.
  • Lead and support a team, attend project status meetings, and ensure project profitability.
  • Act as technical lead on projects and mentor less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required.
  • 10+ years of Controls Engineer experience with capabilities in PLC, DCS, HMI, SCADA platforms, and various industries.
  • Experience with Rockwell and Cimplicity, and third-party web-based data integrations for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in designing electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels, and associated NEC references.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions.
  • Field device/equipment troubleshooting and job estimating.

Physical Demands

  • Seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, ability to mount/dismount equipment, pushing and pulling.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment, on-site office environment, diverse industrial environments, frequent use of personal computer, facsimile/copy machines, phones.
