Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with customer engineers and drafters in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing/testing/commissioning/qualifying electrical solutions.
  • Research systems ideas and draw up plans for power and control at 480 VAC and below, including instrumentation and control devices.
  • Review and develop system specifications and drawing packages.
  • Conduct factory tests as needed.
  • Support throughout the construction and commissioning of the electrical and control systems they have designed, including installation and wiring, check-out support, and commissioning/qualification.
  • Manage a team of engineers to meet overall schedule requirements.
  • Develop scope of work and cost estimates for the deliverables.
  • Execute implementation plans for the project.
  • Assign work to meet overall project deadlines.
  • Evaluate progress on projects and make changes as necessary.
  • Ensure all project team members clearly understand the scope of work and deliver quality output.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent experience is required.
  • Interest in progressing to a PE license will be supported.
  • 10 years of experience with capabilities in preparation of electrical, instrumentation, and PLC control panel specifications for purchase of materials and equipment and/or the solicitations of labor, design of electrical schematics, installation, checkout, and commissioning of electrical, instruments, and control systems, knowledge of the NEC and associated national, state and local code requirements, familiarity with construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements, familiarity with construction and installation standards and specifications for use by electrical contractors, document and organize projects according to established procedures using various tools including computer software such as CAD, Excel, and Visual Manufacturing, review of fabricator and external design drawings, documentation and fabrication sequence, provide cost estimates for electrical controls according to established guidelines, monitor status and ensure delivery of project deliverables within budgeted cost and schedule, experience in industries such as Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas and Mining, strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills needed, ability to communicate and work with both team members, subcontractors and clients, experience with PLC programming is preferred, experience with AutoCAD is desired.
