About the role

Work directly on high-impact energy trading agreements while enjoying a flexible hybrid schedule and significant autonomy within an experienced contracts organization. The Senior Contract Advisor will support a highly specialized energy trading contracts function focused on natural gas, power, financial, and environmental markets. This initial five-month contract offers the potential for extension based on business needs, with a flexible hybrid schedule and three onsite days of your choice each week.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, redline, and negotiate agreements supporting natural gas, power, financial, and environmental transactions.
  • Negotiate NAESB agreements, EEI Master Power Purchase and Sale Agreements, ISDA agreements, renewable energy certificate agreements, and other commodity trading agreements.
  • Work directly with commercial and trading stakeholders to determine appropriate contractual structures for transactions.
  • Manage negotiations with external counterparties through agreement execution.
  • Review contractual language to ensure required protections, clauses, and commercial terms are incorporated.
  • Advise internal stakeholders regarding contractual terms, risks, and agreement requirements.
  • Manage contract onboarding, amendments, renewals, and execution activities.
  • Coordinate with Trading, Front Office, Credit, Legal, Operations, and Compliance stakeholders.
  • Support guarantees, credit support documentation, counterparty documentation, and related trading materials.
  • Identify and resolve contractual and negotiation issues while managing multiple agreements in a fast-paced trading environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant contracts, legal, paralegal, trading documentation, or energy trading agreement experience.
  • Direct experience supporting natural gas or power trading agreements strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing, redlining, and/or negotiating NAESB, EEI, ISDA, or similar energy trading agreements.
  • Experience independently managing contract negotiations with limited supervision.
  • Experience partnering with traders, commercial teams, Credit, Legal, Operations, or related energy trading stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of contract language and experience identifying legal and commercial issues within complex agreements.
  • Experience with commodity trading master agreements, enabling agreements, amendments, and related documentation preferred.
