Senior Content Producer

About the role
The Senior Content Producer helps WUGA-FM tell the stories that matter to the Athens and Northeast Georgia community. This position reports to the News Director and is responsible for editorial and production planning for daily and weekly news programs, including topic selection, story ideas, and guest selection and booking. The role involves developing news, information, and entertainment content consistent with the mission of public radio, the University of Georgia, and Georgia Public Broadcasting.
Responsibilities
- Develop and produce news content and other programming airing on WUGA-FM (60% of time).
- Research topics, coordinate guests, conduct interviews, and develop story ideas.
- Conduct field reporting and anchor daily newscasts as needed.
- Capture audio, photos, and videos to support content and prepare content for digital channels.
- Participate in editorial and production planning for news programs, including topic selection, story ideas, and guest booking (30% of time).
- Manage Asana newsroom workflow and assign stories.
- Edit student work and develop training materials for students.
- Participate in joint projects and special programs with UGA academic units and community partners.
- Work with the Advisory Council to utilize connections for interviews and stories.
- Participate in station-sponsored events and help manage field equipment inventory (10% of time).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with Adobe Audition software and audio recording equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge or familiarity with project management software, like Asana.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in a newsroom.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public radio or broadcast journalism.

Pay
Advertised salary range: $43,000–$48,000.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Occasional nights and weekends may be required.
