Senior Consulting Manager, Financial Reporting Solutions (VP level)
About the role
Financial Reporting Solutions - Senior Consulting Manager is part of the Financial Reporting Solutions Practice within Morgan Stanley at Work. This role serves as a subject-matter expert in equity compensation expensing and financial reporting, assisting clients with utilizing Equity Edge Online (EEO) or Shareworks for their expensing and financial reporting needs. The position reports to the Practice Leader for Financial Reporting Solutions and does not provide accounting, tax, or legal advice.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, compelling explanations of Morgan Stanley at Work’s financial reporting value proposition to prospective and existing clients.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key business decision-makers and industry contacts.
- Identify services to meet client needs, define methodologies, and participate in industry events as a subject-matter expert.
- Document FAQs and solutions for financial reporting topics and best practices.
- Create materials and conduct internal training to expand Shareworks and EEO financial reporting knowledge.
- Assist with external documentation and training to enhance clients’ reporting experience.
- Research, reconcile, and resolve reporting issues submitted by clients.
- Interpret client reporting and data requirements to determine optimal expensing solutions in EEO or Shareworks.
- Troubleshoot and determine root causes of equity expensing and reporting issues.
- Deliver training and transfer knowledge of EEO, Shareworks, and equity compensation to clients and internal partners.
- Present at conferences, client meetings, and virtual sessions on equity compensation and Morgan Stanley at Work’s tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field (Master’s degree a plus).
- 7+ years of combined experience in public accounting, SEC reporting, FP&A, and/or equity compensation.
- Experience in customer service or client-facing roles with a strong aptitude for understanding and responding to client needs.
- Proven technical, client engagement, and project leadership skills.
- Strong focus on client satisfaction, building relationships, and improving client interactions.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills to support and mentor other consultants in an inclusive team environment.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Proactive identification of risks and issues, with independent problem-solving skills.
- Self-directed, results-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Strong technical understanding of equity compensation (ASC 718) accounting and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of equity-related accounting, tax, and legal concepts (domestic and international).
- Experience with Shareworks, Equity Edge Online, or other stock plan administration systems.
- Ability to perform complex share and expense reconciliations and analyze differences.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- CPA preferred.

Pay
Expected base pay for this role ranges from $100,000 to $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Base pay is determined on an individualized basis and is part of a total compensation package that may include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other short- and long-term incentive packages.
