About the role

The Senior Consultative Pharmacist works on assignments involving moderately complex to complex issues, requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Responsibilities include educating members about medication use, responding to inquiries via telephone and web chat, and resolving medication-related issues such as prior authorizations, formulary alternatives, and access concerns. The role ensures safe, accurate, and timely medication usage while maintaining regulatory compliance through accurate documentation of member interactions and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with patients, pharmacies, and providers to optimize medication therapy.
  • Educate members on the proper use and purpose of their medications.
  • Respond to member questions via telephone and web chat regarding prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and general health related to pharmacotherapy.
  • Resolve medication-related issues, including prior authorization requirements, formulary alternatives, and medication access concerns.
  • Encourage safe, accurate, and timely usage of medications.
  • Accurately record member interactions and recommendations to ensure continuity of care and regulatory compliance.
  • Solve problems and encourage collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Active license with the Board of Pharmacy in the appropriate state.
  • Ability to participate in Federal prescription programs.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Focused, accurate, and highly productive work ethic.
  • Passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PharmD.
  • 3+ years' experience in a high-volume community pharmacy practice environment.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).

Work Environment

This is a remote position with the following requirements:

  • Self-provided internet service with a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps (wireless, wired cable, or DSL connection suggested).
  • Work from a dedicated space free of ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.
  • Occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay

The pay range for this full-time (40 hours per week) position is $115,200 - $158,400 per year, based on geographic location, skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications. This role is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
