Description Of Job
The Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) is accepting applications for four (4) Part-Time Senior Consultant – Staff (ASL) Interpreter positions within the Curriculum, Assessment & Instruction Department. These positions provide high-quality American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind students and staff in educational, extracurricular, and professional settings.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with formal interpreter training.
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification or National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
- Five (5) years of diverse professional interpreting experience (excluding educational interpreting).
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Advanced Plus (Level 4) or higher, as determined by an approved assessment in accordance with CSDB policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Colorado Educational Interpreter Authorization (or the ability to obtain one).
- Experience interpreting in educational settings.
- Experience working with DeafBlind individuals and/or Certified Deaf Interpreters (CDIs).
- Demonstrated commitment to Deaf-centered, Deaf-led service delivery.
- Native or near-native ASL fluency.
Conditions of Employment
- Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to employment.
- Must maintain required professional certification throughout employment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
