About the role
West Monroe is seeking a Senior Consultant, Data Visualization with expertise in Power BI to help clients turn complex data into clear, actionable insights. This role combines strong data visualization expertise with hands-on experience working with complex datasets.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that translate complex information into actionable business insights.
- Partner with client stakeholders to understand business questions, define reporting requirements, and recommend effective visualization solutions.
- Use advanced Excel capabilities to analyze, model, validate, and communicate data, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and related functionality.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, validate, and analyze data across multiple sources.
- Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources to create reliable datasets that support reporting and visualization needs.
- Manage data visualization workstreams, driving deliverables to completion while maintaining quality and communicating risks, dependencies, and progress.
- Perform data quality checks and QA dashboards, calculations, and underlying datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate complex data into intuitive visualizations and compelling data stories.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
- Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, reporting, or a related field, preferably within consulting or professional services.
- Advanced Power BI experience, including dashboard development, data modeling, DAX, Power Query, visualization design, and performance optimization.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to efficiently analyze, manipulate, and structure large or complex datasets.
- Strong SQL skills and experience querying, joining, transforming, and validating data from multiple sources.
- Experience connecting and preparing data from multiple systems and sources for reporting and visualization.
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles, dashboard usability, and effective approaches for communicating insights to different audiences.
- Ability to translate business questions and requirements into intuitive visualizations and compelling data stories.
- Strong attention to detail and experience performing quality assurance on data, calculations, and reporting outputs.
- Experience managing workstreams and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
- Ability to travel 25 to 50%.
- Hybrid role: 2x per week in office.
- Ability to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.

Pay
Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role varies by location:
- Seattle or Washington, D.C.: $125,500—$147,600 USD
- Los Angeles: $131,500—$154,700 USD
- New York City or San Francisco: $137,400—$161,700 USD
- A location not listed above: $119,500—$140,600 USD
