About the role
The Commodity & Energy Trading practice at Baringa is seeking experienced Senior Consultants to support clients in navigating the complexities of the trading landscape. Our consultants work closely with clients to define and execute trading strategies, enhance business capabilities, drive digital transformation, and manage risk and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Commercial Advisory: Support clients in US market entry and establishment, develop commercial trading & hedging strategies, collaborate on commercial models, and optimize book structures and transfer pricing.
- Business Capability Development: Assess and design trading capabilities, develop operating and organizational designs, and implement business and IT readiness plans.
- Risk & Regulatory Advisory: Define risk strategies, design risk management policies, and assess and design risk capabilities (including market, credit, operational, climate, KYC, AML, trade surveillance).
- Data & Analytics Advisory: Design and deliver advanced analytics solutions, and advise on data and analytics strategies and architectures.
- Technology Advisory & Transformation: Design and implement technology strategies and operating models, and lead technology capability building and program QA & health checks.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a consulting or industry role, specifically in Commodity & Energy Trading initiatives.
- Strong client delivery and relationship-building skills.
- Deep advisory expertise in strategic advisory, power trading, generation & load management, power operations, forecasting, position management, ISO bidding, settlements, renewable energy credit management, and compliance reporting.
- Experience in market entry and trading readiness initiatives.
- Leadership in business and IT transformation programs, including change management.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in advanced analytics platforms for power trading organizations.
- Program and project delivery experience in power trading environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as finance, economics, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications in consulting or related fields are a plus.
Skills
- Strategic advisory experience focused on power trading and asset optimization operations.
- Functional expertise across the power and environmental value chain including physical & financial power trading, generation & load management, power operations, renewable energy credit management, and compliance reporting.
- Operating model & process design with areas of expertise in forecasting, power trading & scheduling, position management, ISO bidding, submissions & awards, settlements, and renewable energy credit management.
- Advisory support for market entry and trading readiness initiatives.
- Leading business and IT transformation programs, including change management.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in strategy, design, and implementation of advanced analytics platforms for power trading organizations.
- Program and project delivery within power trading environments.
