About the role
The Power Market Advisory team provides clients with an unparalleled combination of energy market expertise and commercial insight. We work with leading policymakers, regulators, investors, developers, lenders, and energy companies globally across the energy supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Develop power market outlooks and support strategy and transaction advisory projects in the North American power sector.
- Collaborate with project leads to define problem statements, select analytical methods, and translate client needs into clear workplans.
- Own and coordinate end-to-end delivery of defined project workstreams, managing day-to-day priorities for you and junior staff.
- Synthesize analysis into client-ready outputs, including clear narratives, slides, and written materials, and present conclusions and implications to clients and senior leadership.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a consulting or industry role, with a focus on wholesale power markets, infrastructure project analysis, policy, regulation, and market design, specifically in North American power markets.
- Experience with production cost modeling in PLEXOS or similar software.
- Experience handling and processing large amounts of data using Python.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of effective team working across different disciplines.
- Proven ability to lead investigative analyses, perform QA/QC on data and model outputs, and grow into a technical resource across power market topics and tools.
- Experience with discounted cash flow analysis, commercial and contracting structures, and energy scenario development.
- Experience creating tools or automation to streamline data pipelines and modeling workflows, with a strong emphasis on reproducibility and quality control.
- Experience in supporting business development initiatives in a commercially-oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in economics, engineering, finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly in wholesale electricity market fundamentals.
- Experience in energy market analysis and scenario development.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and market design principles.
