Senior Consultant
About the role
Freese and Nichols is searching for an experienced engineering professional to serve as a Senior Consultant on a part‑time or full‑time basis, supporting divisional leadership in the Western Gulf Coast Division. The preferred candidate will have progressive experience leading the strategic direction of large multi‑discipline organizations, developing partnerships across multiple organizations, building effective teams and leadership roles to meet organizational mission and goals, and communicating effectively across technical, policy, funding, and political issues. The position is based in the Houston, Texas office and reports to the Western Gulf Coast Division management team. The candidate will also work cooperatively across company operations and practices to assist in client engagement activities and leadership of strategic pursuits, clients, and programs throughout the division.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of FNI’s Western Gulf Coast strategic plan, including development of opportunities related to municipal, State, and Federal clients, pursuits, projects, and programs.
- Assist in the advancement of client relationships and business development across multiple client types including Municipalities, Counties, River Authorities, Water Districts, Flood Control Districts, Drainage Districts, State agencies, USACE and other Federal agencies, and others as required.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Western Gulf Coast divisional leadership and operations staff, practices, business development teams, and clients in the leadership of strategic pursuits and project development.
- Serve as a Senior Consultant/Senior Advisor to assist in the leadership, management and delivery of the planning, design, and construction of strategic pursuits, projects, and programs, as appropriate.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in the planning, design, and construction of large civil infrastructure projects and programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas.
- Strong technical, production design, writing, and teamwork skills, as well as project/program and team management experience.
- Strong technical writing and management skills.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and multi‑task, provide leadership to junior staff, and work with divisional leadership across multiple technical and operational teams, groups, and practices.
