About the role
This role serves as a key leader within the construction team, overseeing project execution from planning through completion while providing guidance, mentorship, and support to project management staff and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple construction projects simultaneously while serving as a subject matter expert and mentor within the department.
- Oversee project planning, contractor management, budgeting, scheduling, compliance, and execution to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage multiple retail construction, remodel, rebuild, and capital improvement projects across several states.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop project scopes, specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Lead projects from planning and bidding through construction and final closeout.
- Review drawings, plans, schedules, contracts, and project documentation to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Coordinate construction activities in active retail store environments while minimizing operational disruption.
- Conduct pre-construction meetings, project reviews, inspections, and final punch-list walkthroughs.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Escalate project concerns, delays, or budget impacts to leadership as appropriate.
- Assign projects to the team, matching PM’s strengths.
Requirements
- Develop project budgets and forecasts while maintaining financial accountability throughout project execution.
- Negotiate contractor, vendor, and consultant agreements to achieve cost-effective project outcomes.
- Manage bidding processes and contractor selection.
- Review, approve, and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, change orders, and project expenditures.
- Monitor project costs and analyze variances to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings.
- Support long-term capital planning and construction strategy initiatives.
