Senior Construction Inspector

About the role

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated construction inspector for SCDOT projects in South Carolina. A Mid-Level Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects.
• Ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications.
• Perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed.
• Plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project.
• Perform materials testing.
• Document inspected work daily.
• Perform heavy lifting and work outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform work independently.
• Travel to construction sites throughout the state (valid driver’s license required).
• Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Requirements

• Hold at least four applicable certifications.
• Meet one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field plus four years relevant experience.
  • Associate degree in construction management or related field plus six years relevant experience.
  • No degree: at least eight years of relevant experience.

Skills

• SCDOT construction inspection and materials testing certifications (any/all).
• Working knowledge of SCDOT standards, specifications, and material testing procedures.
• SCDOT Foundations Certification required.
• Additional SCDOT certifications and CEPSCI certification preferred.
