About the role
HDR is hiring a Senior Construction Inspector to work as a member of our Florida CEI (Construction Engineering and Inspection) program. This is a great opportunity to work on fast-paced, short-duration projects within Florida. The inspector will primarily work independently on FDOT projects, including milling and resurfacing, bridge construction, signalization, earthwork operations, stripping operations, and final estimate preparation. Daily interaction with FDOT Project Administrators and other FDOT personnel is required. This position offers upward mobility and long-term employment with a fast-growing, employee-owned company and is located in the Miami, Florida area.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent inspection on FDOT projects, including milling and resurfacing, bridge construction, signalization, earthwork operations, stripping operations, and final estimate preparation.
- Interact daily with FDOT Project Administrators and other FDOT personnel.
- Uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and trust in construction services.
- Work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative, employee-owned culture.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
- Willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical School or Associate's Degree.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in roadway and/or bridge construction inspection.
- Local candidate (Miami, Florida area).
- Industry certifications (strongly preferred):
- CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level 1
- CTQP Asphalt Roadway Levels 1 and 2
- CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Levels 1 and 2
- IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1
- CTQP Final Estimates Levels 1 and 2
- FDOT Intermediate MOT
- Nuclear Radiation Safety Certification
- Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
- Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course
- CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
- CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
