Responsibilities
- Help identify, assess, and respond to security events across Duke Energy’s operational footprint.
- Serve as a first point of contact for security events and help determine the appropriate response based on available information, threat indicators, and company procedures.
- Use sophisticated security systems and technologies for intrusion analysis, event detection, video analytics, access control monitoring, and incident management.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate reports related to alarms, investigations, incidents, and operational activities.
- Support Console Operators by providing decision support, guidance, and situational awareness during routine and emergency operations.
- Maintain situational awareness and monitor incoming threat streams and suspicious activity to identify potential risks at or near company facilities.
- Collaborate with corporate investigators, law enforcement, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to support timely and appropriate security response.
- Manage emergency notification procedures in alignment with company response plans and established protocols.
- Support regulatory compliance activities related to access control systems and security operations.
- Conduct or support planned and unplanned Unmanned Aerial Systems missions, including pre-mission planning, flight notifications, risk assessments, briefings, debriefings, and post-mission reporting.
- Provide shift leadership, support workplace standards, and contribute to procedure updates, coaching opportunities, and continuous improvement across the team.
Qualifications
- High School/GED degree + 3 years related work experience
- Associates degree in Criminal Justice + 5 years related work experience (preferred)
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Part 107, Remote Pilot Certificate, within 6 months (preferred)
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a security operations center, dispatch environment, law enforcement, regulatory, emergency response, or critical infrastructure setting
- Working knowledge of physical access control systems, CCTV, case management tools, Microsoft Office, public incident monitoring tools, or similar applications
- Ability to assess facts, conduct basic information gathering, and support sound decision-making during time-sensitive situations
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential information and interacting with customers, employees, and external partners
- Strong multitasking skills, including the ability to navigate multiple systems while maintaining clear communication and meeting performance expectations
- Experience with Unmanned Aerial Systems or drone operations (preferred)
