About the role
Support the continued development and implementation of a structured, consistent total rewards framework across the organization. In partnership with HR leadership and key stakeholders, this role will contribute to foundational compensation initiatives, including job leveling, salary bands, performance alignment, and incentive structures. The position will also provide analysis and oversight of the company’s benefits programs, support benefits administration and integration efforts, and help ensure compensation and benefits strategies are aligned with broader business and workforce priorities.
Mission: Build job architecture, compensation structure, and benefits administration for an 800-employee, seven-state organization with no existing comp framework, working directly alongside the Head of HR on the architecture build.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Head of HR on job architecture design (families, levels, career ladders), using AI-assisted analysis and available market data
- Build the pay band structure and market pricing methodology; maintain job-to-band mapping as it's developed
- Own multi-state pay equity and pay transparency compliance
- Run the annual compensation cycle (merit, promotion, bonus) and enable managers on it
- Administer benefits programs: enrollment, life events, vendor management, renewal negotiations, and open enrollment
- Run compliance reporting, including EEO-1 pay data and state pay transparency filings
- Serve as the escalation point for comp/benefits questions from the HR Support Center
Requirements
- 5+ years of combined compensation and benefits experience
- Comfortable partnering with leadership on AI-assisted job architecture and market analysis work
- Multi-state compliance experience preferred
- Strong Excel/data skills
- Demonstrated ability to sequence competing priorities — benefits administration carries hard deadlines (e.g., open enrollment) that should take precedence over architecture work when the two compete
Preferred Experience
- Experience in PEO, HCM, HR services, or related industries
- Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment
