About the role

The Senior Companion Program Coordinator implements the daily operations for the Senior Companion Program in Yellowstone County. This position assists in developing and implementing plans and goals for the program, ensures compliance with grant regulations and internal policies, and provides daily oversight of 40-50 Senior Companion Volunteers. The role is actively involved in the recruitment and retention of volunteers and volunteer stations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Senior Companion Program
  • Develop and implement program plans and goals
  • Ensure compliance with grant regulations and internal policies
  • Provide daily oversight of volunteer activities
  • Recruit and retain Senior Companion Volunteers and volunteer stations
  • Manage monthly and quarterly schedules and submit required reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate records and basic bookkeeping
  • Connect individuals to appropriate public and private community resources, including State and Federal agencies
  • Communicate effectively with older adults, family members, and service providers
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role

Requirements

  • One year of experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities preferred; a combination of relevant experience and training may be considered
  • Ability to pass a Montana State criminal history check, fingerprint-based FBI check, and a search of the National Sex Offender Website
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Willingness to travel, including on rural two-lane roads and during winter conditions
  • Occasional lifting of items weighing between 5 to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in clients' homes, service provider offices, and standard office settings
  • Extended periods of sitting (up to seven hours per eight-hour workday) for office and computer tasks
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and possess adequate close and distance vision, as well as depth perception

Qualifications

  • Experience in record keeping and basic bookkeeping preferred
  • Knowledge of public and private community resources, including State and Federal agencies
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
