Supervision Exercised: Directly supervise 40-50 Senior Companion Volunteers in Yellowstone County

Length of Position: Dependent upon continued program funding

About the Role

The Senior Companion Program Coordinator implements the daily operations for the Senior Companion Program. This position assists in developing and implementing plans and goals for the program and ensures compliance with grant regulations and internal policies. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the daily oversight of volunteer activities and is actively involved in the recruitment and retention of volunteers and volunteer stations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement daily operations for the Senior Companion Program
  • Assist in developing and implementing plans and goals for the program
  • Ensure compliance with grant regulations and internal policies
  • Oversee daily volunteer activities
  • Recruit and retain volunteers and volunteer stations
  • Manage monthly and quarterly schedules
  • Submit required reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role

Requirements

  • One year of experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities preferred; a combination of relevant experience and training may be considered
  • Ability to pass a Montana State criminal history check, fingerprint-based FBI check, and a search of the National Sex Offender Website before beginning orientation
  • Experience in record keeping and basic bookkeeping preferred
  • Knowledge of public and private community resources, including State and Federal agencies
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to work effectively with older adults, family members, and other service providers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both oral and written

Special Requirements

  • Willingness to travel, including on rural two-lane roads and during winter conditions
  • Work may be performed in clients' homes, service provider offices, and standard office settings
  • Occasional lifting of items such as computers, boxes, and bags weighing between 5 to 25 pounds
  • Extended periods of sitting (up to seven hours per eight-hour workday) for office and computer tasks
  • Ability to climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces
  • Adequate close and distance vision, as well as depth perception, to perform job duties safely and effectively

Pay

Full Time; 40 hours per week
