Senior Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate electrical installation and ensure conformity to standards and specifications.
  • Facilitate coordination between project management, engineering, and senior site management.
  • Support processing of customer bulletins and field orders.
  • Manage all subcontractors on site and participate in and support all safety and quality programs.
  • Supervise and monitor site clean-up activities.
  • Resolve minor installation coordination and engineering problems.
  • Issue and monitor contractor punch lists for contract completion.
  • Participate in start-up and extend support as required.
  • Organize and attend meetings as required, and issue minutes.
  • Coordinate documentation required for subcontractor equipment test and handover.
  • Communicate and provide subcontractor equipment information to commissioning personnel.
  • Generate change requests as needed.
  • Conduct site coordination meetings (internal and subcontractors).
  • Conduct “pre-job” walk-through with trade’s council to address any demarcation issues.
  • Provide commissioning for projects and products.
  • Conduct equipment start-up and debug controls hardware and software.
  • Record baseline data and mark up drawing changes.
  • Handle project performance, data collection, and generate reports as needed.
  • Provide standby and customer support.
  • Work as part of a team on major projects or individually on smaller projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Solid technical training (master craftsman, technician in the field of electrical installation or comparable).
  • Knowledge and experience in electrical production/installation.
  • Experience in the installation of electrical equipment for machines and plants.
  • Experience in the installation of power distribution systems and heavy-duty stations.
  • Experience in installation and measurements of networks (e.g., Ethernet, Profinet).
  • Experienced in handling valid EN/US guidelines and standards (e.g., EN60204-1, UL508A, NEC, NFPA).
  • Extensive travel required (90%).
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Labor and union relations skills.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations (30-hour certified).
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
