About the role
The Smart Buildings Team at DLR Group is seeking a Senior Commissioning Authority to join their growing team in Minneapolis, Washington D.C., Orlando, Charlotte, Dallas, or Fort Worth. This position involves managing multiple high-profile, national and international Commissioning projects across various sectors including Workplace, Federal, Education, Hospitality, Healthcare, Justice & Civic, Mixed-Use, and more.
Responsibilities
- Manage a commissioning team and provide commissioning expertise
- Lead commissioning activities across all phases of the project with multiple trades and client management
- Review design and construction documents for compliance with Owner’s Project Requirements and Basis of Design
- Oversee the implementation of commissioning plans, specifications, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance tests
- Evaluate and test system performance
- Provide subject matter expertise regarding system performance
- Collaborate with the leadership team to identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Meet with potential clients, develop relationships, and present the value of our commissioning services
- Mentor and train junior staff, helping to build a capable and cohesive commissioning team
Requirements
- +15 years of hands-on experience in commissioning building systems
- Strong knowledge of the building design and construction industry, with expertise in the commissioning process for new construction, major renovations, and existing buildings
- In-depth understanding of energy use, indoor environmental quality, operations, and maintenance in building commissioning
- Technical expertise in MEP and building automation systems, with the ability to evaluate and test system performance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational and computer skills
- Commissioning certification from a recognized body (ACG, BCA, or ASHRAE)
- Possess a sense of self-direction and the ability to manage your own time and aid others to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, SkySpark as a Connected-Commissioning/Monitoring-based Commissioning tool

Pay
The suggested pay range for this position is: Pay Range $100,800 - $177,320 USD
Schedule
We follow a four-day in-office work model, with employees having the flexibility to work somewhere other than the office on Fridays.
