About the role

New Valley is seeking a talented and ambitious professional to support the loan origination and portfolio review initiatives of the Lending Department. Under the direction of the Credit Officer, the Senior Credit Analyst will work collaboratively and independently to evaluate and determine the credit risks of commercial clients through detailed financial statement analysis, industry assessment, collateral valuation, cash flow analysis, and ability-to-repay assessments. This is a hybrid role, with scheduled remote work days allowed after the initial 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed and insightful credit analysis for new credit approvals, renewals, and risk rating assignments, providing independent recommendations to officers.
  • Produce credit reviews and presentations for new and existing customers with minimal training or guidance, meeting deadlines for completion.
  • Work with Lenders and Portfolio Managers to complete underwriting assignments and tasks.
  • Utilize Abrigo Sageworks to create financial summaries, credit presentations, and other reports while maintaining the Bank’s customer and financial database.
  • Maintain reports and tracking metrics for the Bank Portfolio and Borrowers as needed.
  • Monitor policy compliance by verifying adherence to Commercial Credit policies.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts and other team members.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance, operational risk controls, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain New Valley control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and issues raised by regulators.
  • Complete other related duties, such as customer onboarding and systems maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial credit or public accounting, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, preferred.
  • Commercial underwriting expertise and knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of related underwriting software programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, and computer skills.
