Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney
About the role
We are working with an established, midsize law firm in the Chicago suburbs seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its growing litigation practice. The firm represents businesses, business owners, and corporate clients in sophisticated commercial disputes throughout Illinois and across the country. Its attorneys handle a broad range of complex litigation matters, including contract disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, business torts, commercial real estate litigation, trade secrets, and injunctive relief. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial litigator seeking greater autonomy, meaningful courtroom experience, direct client interaction, and long-term professional growth within a collaborative, business-focused practice.
Responsibilities
- Manage sophisticated commercial and business litigation matters from inception through trial.
- Handle complex contract disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, business torts, and related commercial litigation.
- Draft and argue substantive motions, including dispositive motions and motions for injunctive relief.
- Conduct and defend depositions, manage discovery, and develop litigation strategies.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Work directly with business owners, executives, and corporate clients.
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys across the firm's litigation and transactional practice groups.
- Contribute to client relationships and the continued growth of the litigation practice.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial/business litigation experience, preferably with substantial responsibility for complex matters.
- Active Illinois Bar admission.
- Strong experience handling contract disputes, business litigation, and related commercial matters.
- Significant deposition, motion practice, and courtroom experience.
- Trial experience strongly preferred, including first- or second-chair experience.
- Ability to independently manage a caseload and develop effective litigation strategies.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and client communication skills.
- Experience managing client relationships and developing business is a plus.

Pay
$250,000 - $300,000 per year
