About the role

The Senior Collaboration Platform Engineer designs, implements, and owns enterprise collaboration platforms such as Zoom or Google Workspace to meet business, regulatory, and operational requirements. They identify systemic gaps and opportunities to improve resiliency, performance, and user experience. This role leads end-to-end implementation initiatives, evaluates platform capabilities, and recommends platform improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and enforces platform architecture and technical standards, influencing design decisions across network, security, identity, and end-user computing teams.
  • Manages change control processes and provides post-deployment support for end-to-end implementation initiatives.
  • Evaluates platform capabilities, vendor offerings, and roadmaps with consideration for security, compliance, scalability, availability, and user experience.
  • Develops and maintains operational documentation, including runbooks, governance standards, and incident/problem management procedures.
  • Participates in special projects and cross-functional initiatives supporting collaboration platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • In-depth experience in collaboration engineering or adjacent enterprise platform roles with ownership of production platforms.
  • Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Google Workspace, or similar cloud-based communication and productivity services.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with the ability to set standards, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive sound engineering decisions without direct authority.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across endpoints, identity, networking, security, and cloud services, with proven experience in incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Broad foundational knowledge of networking and security concepts, including DNS/DHCP, routing, firewalls/proxies, VPN, certificates/TLS, SSO/MFA, and conditional access.
  • Experience leading complex implementations and platform improvements through risk assessment, change management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Proven ability to support high-availability production services in regulated environments using structured change, incident, and problem management practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders and produce clear documentation and operational runbooks.

This role is focused on cloud collaboration platform engineering (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace, Webex) and does not involve traditional telephony systems, contact center platforms, or conference room hardware deployment.
