About the role
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer / Azure SME to serve as a subject matter expert supporting a U.S. Army enterprise analytics and cloud initiative. This is a senior-level technical role requiring deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud engineering, architecture, data platforms, integration, automation, and security. The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority for Azure cloud solutions, providing expert guidance on complex engineering challenges, architectural decisions, system integration, cloud security, and the design and operation of scalable enterprise cloud environments.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional cloud engineering experience.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
- Extensive hands-on experience with:
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Key Vault
- Azure API Management
- Cloud automation
- Proven ability to design, architect, implement, and troubleshoot complex Azure cloud solutions.
- Strong experience designing and maintaining data platforms, data pipelines, and enterprise analytics environments.
- Experience establishing and implementing cloud security controls in enterprise environments.
- U.S. Army, DoD, or federal government experience.
- Experience supporting DoD Cloud environments and IL5 or higher.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and serve as a subject matter expert to engineering, development, and technical teams.
- Active Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Army sustainment, logistics, or readiness missions.
- Experience with GCSS-Army, G4, NLAC, or other Army sustainment systems and data.
- Experience with Azure Government.
- Experience implementing Azure security controls and cloud governance in government environments.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting, and automated cloud deployment.
- Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications.
- Security+, DoD 8570/8140-related certifications, or other relevant cybersecurity credentials.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Azure cloud engineering subject matter expert and technical authority for the program.
- Provide expert guidance on cloud architecture, engineering, integration, security, automation, performance, and scalability.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Azure solutions supporting Army enterprise analytics.
- Design and maintain data integration and processing solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory.
- Implement and manage secure cloud services using Azure Key Vault and Azure API Management.
- Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex cloud infrastructure, data pipeline, integration, and application connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with architects, data scientists, analysts, developers, and Army stakeholders while providing technical guidance to other engineering personnel.
