Senior Claims Specialist - Cyber/MPL/Media

About the role
This role requires hybrid work, with in-office attendance 3 days a week. The role can be based in any of these AXIS office locations: NYC, Short Hills - NJ, Red Bank – NJ, Princeton – NJ, Alpharetta, Stamford - CT, or Chicago.
Responsibilities
- Exercise critical thinking, proper judgment, and decision-making in a best-practices claim environment to promptly analyze claim exposure, determine the proper course of action, and pursue claims to conclusion.
- Set accurate and timely claim reserves and make referrals to senior team members where necessary.
- Obtain relevant policies, review policy wordings to validate coverage for claims, and escalate any issues arising.
- Prepare coverage positions to be reviewed and approved by the Claim Manager.
- Work closely with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and brokers to ensure premier and best-practices claim service, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Document claim file notes, store electronic documents, and record claim details in an effective and timely manner.
- Develop a working knowledge of the legal frameworks and claims-handling practices relevant to the jurisdictions in which claims arise.
- Monitor and investigate assigned claims and develop resolution strategies.
- Attend mediation, arbitration, and other claim meetings as needed.
- Participate in presentations and discussions with underwriters.
- Validate indemnity and fee payments, ensuring accurate and prompt processing, including monitoring and processing claims bordereaux and ISO searches and reporting.
- Ensure file setup is accurate with proper coding, LOB, Danger Signal, and CAT/Event Codes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; JD a plus.
- Claims adjuster license required; valid adjusting licenses in required states and additional states as needed.
- Minimum of 4-8 years of claim adjusting experience.
- Experience handling cyber primary and excess claims, including first-party and third-party privacy liability claims, and media liability claims.
- Experience handling technology errors and omissions and miscellaneous professional liability is a plus.
- Expert comfort level with remote and work-from-home virtual working practices and platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with internal and external customers.
- Solid understanding of individual and group performance metrics and KPIs.
- Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, and SharePoint is a plus.
- Availability for occasional travel.
- Team player with a positive outlook who is flexible, organized, efficient, and timely.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of factors including the candidate’s experience and work location.
In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
