Senior Claims Examiner
About the role
Champlain Insurance Group is a fast-growing, specialty, surplus and excess lines insurance enterprise offering primary and excess general liability insurance solutions and claims administration throughout the United States. We are seeking a commercial Senior Claims Examiner for our Manchester, NH office capable of handling general liability claims including negligent security, premises liability, product defect, energy exposures involving bodily injury, property damage, personal/advertising injury, auto and other miscellaneous claims.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, investigate, and resolve complex claim issues, including coverage, liability, and damages
- Ensure appropriate investigation of the underlying facts and circumstances is carried out in a timely manner
- Retain and utilize proper experts where necessary
- Select and utilize counsel appropriately
- Employ proper negotiation strategy
- Recognize exposures and ensure reserving is appropriate and timely
- Evaluate coverage issues and risk transfer opportunities
- Communicate exposures effectively both internally and externally
- Formulate proper resolution strategy to ensure best total outcome
- Travel as needed to attend mediations, trials and/or other related meetings
Qualifications
- Hybrid location(s): Manchester, NH or Boston, MA area; ability to commute into the office 2-3 days a week
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in handling commercial liability claims
- Proficiency with computer skills required to navigate the paperless claim file system
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to interact professionally at a high level with both internal and external parties
- Adaptability to changing situations, requirements, or priorities
- Strong negotiation skills
- High level of technical claim and legal knowledge and skills
- Solid interpersonal relationships and building trust
