About the role

The Senior Claims Consultant serves as a client-facing advocate, interpreting policy language, conducting coverage analysis, and resolving disputes. This role acts as a liaison between clients, adjusters, defense counsel, insurance companies, claims management, and other client services to deliver professional and courteous service, ensuring outcomes meet or exceed expectations. The position supports Producers and Account Managers to drive client retention and growth while adhering to HUB’s standard practices, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the client’s primary advocate with carriers, adjusters, TPAs, and defense counsel throughout the life cycle of claims.
  • Consult with clients on claims issues and recommend solutions to coverage, quantum, and claim-handling management challenges.
  • Negotiate with insurers, adjusters, and defense counsel to expedite and secure fair claim settlements.
  • Participate in sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Assist clients in preparing special claims servicing instructions tailored to their specific needs and insurance program structures.
  • Review and comment on policy wording for account teams.
  • Conduct regular reviews of claims with clients, insurers, and loss adjusters.
  • Ensure efficient, prompt, and smooth claims handling while verifying established processes are followed.
  • Provide guidance to clients on the claims process, including likely outcomes and timelines.
  • Liaise with carriers and representatives throughout the claim process.
  • Document conversations with clients and carrier representatives, updating HUB computer systems and agency management systems as needed.
  • Ensure data accuracy in all systems.
  • Answer basic coverage questions and interpret policy language, proposing coverage solutions in disputed situations.
  • Accurately file claims electronically.
  • Attend Critical Path, prospecting, stewardship, and client meetings, including participation in presentations.
  • Collaborate with Producers and other HUB personnel on claim matters while adhering to best practices and standard procedures.
  • Stay informed about changes in the insurance industry and external conditions impacting clients.
  • Travel on company business as required.
  • Prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Attend industry-related continuing education training and courses.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial insurance claims experience, with a strong emphasis on client-side advocacy and carrier dispute resolution in an agency or broker firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge carrier coverage denials, reservation of rights letters, and adverse coverage positions across property, CGL, and specialty lines.
  • Track record of achieving favorable coverage outcomes on complex claims through persistent advocacy, policy analysis, and strategic engagement with carriers and TPAs.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify coverage arguments, policy ambiguities, and contractual protections supporting client recovery.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate coverage positions, challenge carrier arguments, and guide clients through complex claims.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications and claims management systems.
  • Occasional travel required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Relevant insurance licenses per state/regional statutes.
  • Associate in Claims (AIC) or CPCU designation preferred.
