Senior Civil/Structural Engineer
Responsibilities
Preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documents such as design criteria, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Aid in the definition of project objectives, preparation of design estimates, and definition of project requirements and routine design approaches.
Responsible for scoping, estimating, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects, which may have unique or complex technical or project execution requirements.
Perform technical and coordination checking review of deliverables and other project documents and ensure deliverables comply with company procedures and applicable design requirements.
Prepare/check calculations using engineering formulas and skills or using specific structural analysis software such as STAAD, Risa, Enercalc, etc.
Have experience with calculations using MathCAD and Excel.
Have knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, AISC 360, AISC 341, ACI 318.
Be capable of performing seismic design experience with concrete and steel.
Have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Be well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed to schedules.
Display creative thinking and ability to judge between alternate solutions to provide the optimal solution.
Show safety consciousness and strict adherence to company and client safety standards.
Be willing to travel on a regular basis (primarily day trips, with some overnights).
Requirements
California PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Structural PE preferred.
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.
- 8+ years of experience.
Skills
- MSCE with structural emphasis from an ABET accredited school.
- Familiarity with power generating utility processes is preferred.
- Proficiency with industry standard structural analysis software, including Finite Element Analysis program.
