About the role

This position involves modeling and detailing the structural elements of an assigned scope of work in a CB&I project, including creation of specific deliverables such as structural section drawings, detail drawings, column layout drawings, framing plans, structural standard details, connection details, grating and handrail details, beam connection drawings, support schedules, as well as lifting and handling assembly drawings. The role maintains and promotes a focus on CB&I’s end product, whether engineering, fabrication, or construction, and ensures effective communications with supervisors, project leads, and other engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to structural designers with less experience, as needed.
  • Read and understand design criteria for specified design.
  • Gather supporting documents and information for assigned tasks.
  • Read and understand the civil and structural portions of the EPC contract.
  • Review and understand supplier and subcontractor documentation.
  • Develop structural models and generate the typical suite of structural drawings.
  • Become familiar with in-house standard details and work processes.
  • Develop drawings to facilitate transport and module assembly execution where applicable.
  • Focus on one or more of the following tasks during project assignment:
    • Perform structural steel design and detailing.
    • Facilitate preparation of documents required for requisitioning and subcontracts packages.
    • Facilitate review documentation submitted by suppliers and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of relevant structural experience.
  • Associate’s degree in CAD or similar design degree is required.
  • Experienced in working with MicroStation or AutoCAD, as well as Plant Design Software (PDS) / Frameworks or SmartPlant 3D (S3D).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Permanent work location: Plainfield Engineering Office

Pay

Pay Range: $72,181–$90,226 USD/Annually
