Senior Civil Highway Engineer/Department Manager

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or conduct Civil Engineering design tasks including geometrics, profiles/grading, drainage/storm water management, soil erosion and sediment control, traffic signs and markings, maintenance, and protection of traffic.
  • Prepare technical specifications, quantity and cost estimates, design, and construction schedules.
  • Prepare design study reports and deliverables.
  • Coincide and deal directly with clients.
  • Periodically organize and lead fieldwork effort with internal staff teams.
  • Aid in developing design scope of work and associated fee estimates, and other business development efforts.
  • Mentor junior staff members.
  • Stay current with design criteria and technology.
  • Be proficient in software (engineering, drafting, administrative) necessary to complete assigned projects.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in both New York and/or New Jersey required.
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in civil design for highway/roadway and site improvements including the use of CADD and related computer design software.
  • Proficient in applying Design Manuals in use by various governmental agencies.

Pay Transparency

  • Base salary is $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
  • Reimbursement of relocation expenses will be provided to individuals who meet eligibility requirements.

  • Strong verbal and written skills are required.
  • Provides technical support.
  • Can accomplish assigned tasks independently with guidance from their supervisor.
  • Capable of developing solutions to problems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods (often 6–8 hours a day).
  • Maintain posture while working at a computer.
  • Short periods of standing or walking within the office (to printers, meeting rooms, etc.).
