Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a related engineering role that would demonstrate effectiveness in leading engineering projects and providing technical expertise.
  • Minimum of two years of project management experience in federal, state, or local government administration.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of:
    • Traffic engineering principles, practices, concepts, procedures, and methods.
    • Complete Streets design and execution.
    • ADA transition plan development and implementation.
    • State and federal guidelines, principles, and practices related to uniform traffic control devices.
    • Traffic signal system operations (timing & coordination), warrant analysis and design.
    • Traffic impact Studies TIS scoping and evaluation.
    • Licenses or certifications: Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), desired.
  • Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer within the state of Ohio.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, PTOE, desired.
