Description of Work
This position supports the County Maintenance Manager by applying engineering principles to guide maintenance operations and ensure safe roadway conditions. The primary focus of this role includes reviewing projects, supervising crews, coordinating inspections, and overseeing environmental and emergency responsibilities.
As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Engineering Review: Analyze maintenance projects, apply comprehensive engineering judgment, and recommend safety improvements
- Crew Oversight: Supervise general and specialized crews during highway and bridge maintenance activities
- Work Planning: Prepare drafts of long range, annual, monthly, and weekly work plans
- Project Evaluation: Review estimates, funding requests, and resource needs for seasonal and annual operations
- Agility Coordination: Develop and oversee agility agreements while meeting with local partners to set priorities
- Inspection Management: Conduct inspections of operations, construction work, and environmental clearances
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Work Schedule
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
