About the role
The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of experience in roadway design for DOT and/or municipal projects, preferably in Texas. Responsibilities include leading project design and plan production, providing guidance to technical staff, and managing projects from planning through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from planning through delivery, collaborating with project members, multi-practice teams, subconsultants and other stakeholders to make sure deliverables, requirements, schedules, costs and meeting plans are communicated.
- Apply technical expertise appropriately by understanding project specific standards, criteria, deliverables and best practices.
- Assist in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Work closely with the Transportation Team Leader in the development and delivery of roadway / transportation projects.
- Perform complex transportation engineering tasks and lead other professional staff in the development of transportation projects.
- Develop and manage project scope, personnel, budgets, schedules and collaborate with clients and stakeholders.
- Manage multiple transportation tasks or projects in support of business needs.
- Manage other consultant teams and the workload of design staff including Engineers, EITSs, and technical staff that contribute to the growth and safety of Texas roadways.
- Support in preparation of proposals and RFQs.
- Review transportation deliverables for accuracy and consistency.
- Report on project progress and budgets.
- Work with the Transportation Team Leader and Operations Managers in business development activities.
- Monitor project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities to optimize project efficiency and profitability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in civil engineering or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Texas.
- At least 8 years of experience in roadway project development with emphasis in DOT and/or municipal projects, preferably in Texas.
- MicroStation CADD and OpenRoads experience required.
- Ability to lead technical staff and manage projects in all aspects, from schedules and budgets to client interaction and proposal preparation and with a commitment to quality.
- Experience managing roadway design projects and plan production.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and decision-making skills.
- Commitment to quality, positive attitude, self-directed yet a team player, and a person of high character with a focus on quality, integrity and success.
Qualifications
- Primavera (P6) Experience is desirable.
