About the role
The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead a team of engineers, technicians, and scientists within the Materials and Research Section. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who loves to solve problems, is a strategic thinker, and one who thrives collaborating with others.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining AASHTO accreditation for the central laboratory in Berlin, by ensuring sufficient and qualified staffing and overseeing a budget
- Ensuring quality and consistency between all materials labs
- Advancing internal and external applied research
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with state and national materials producers
Requirements
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
- At least ten (10) years of engineering experience
Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strategic thinking abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Skills
- Proficiency in AASHTO standards
- Experience with material testing and specification development
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
