Senior Civil Engineer
About the role
SLR Consulting (Americas) delivers environmental and sustainability services through over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines. As our new Senior Civil Engineer in the Reno office, you will work on a variety of challenging projects including geotechnical engineering, earthworks and grading, stormwater design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, environmental remediation, and construction quality monitoring, primarily supporting the mining industry.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a registered principal engineer, mentor junior staff, and direct projects involving design, analysis, specifications, calculations, and technical reports. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, planners, scientists, and other professionals, working on significant local and global projects that positively impact communities and the environment. Your role will extend to site assessments, construction observation, and client and regulator meetings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and take professional ownership of projects in a technical capacity.
- Perform engineering work for industrial and mining projects.
- Visit project sites for data collection, monitoring, investigations, and construction inspection services.
- Utilize software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC HMS, HEC RAS, GeoStudio, and Rocscience for designs and computations.
- Write memos and calculation packages to document work performed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Nevada, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Working knowledge of engineering software including Civil 3D, HEC HMS, HEC RAS, GeoStudio, and Rocscience.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Willing to travel by car and airplane for domestic projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.Sc. in civil engineering or related field.
- Willing to travel for international projects.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000. Final compensation will be based on individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
