Senior Civil Engineer

About the role

Chattanooga Engineering Group, one of the largest civil engineering firms in southeast Tennessee, is hiring a civil engineer based in the Charlotte, North Carolina Area. We are looking for a highly motivated, conscientious, and innovative candidate to provide design support—including drawings, calculations, and modeling—for CEG’s civil works in North Carolina, specifically projects involving water, wastewater, stormwater, and roads.

Responsibilities

• Analyze surveys, long-range plans, maps, and other data to design new projects.
• Provide risk-analysis while consulting budgetary, regulatory, and environmental factors and concerns.
• Prepare material, equipment, and labor cost-estimates in financially responsible ways.
• Forecast and manage design and construction timelines.
• Effectively and proactively observe and complete the permitting process with appropriate agencies, ensuring compliance with projects.
• Work remotely while representing CEG in the Charlotte, North Carolina Area.

Requirements

• Experience with land development is required.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Tennessee or North Carolina (or the ability to obtain it within 90 days).
• 5+ years of Land Development experience.
• Excellent design and visualization software knowledge such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar programs.
• Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control, and regulatory approvals.
• BS/MA in Civil Engineering.
