About the role
The Senior Chemist, Synthesis, at Polynt Composites USA is responsible for developing, commercializing, and industrializing new products through advanced research and development activities. This role requires a deep understanding of chemistry and technical skills to solve complex problems and support both current and future product lines.
Responsibilities
- Prepares chemical formulations and prototypes via synthesis or blending
- Creates test articles using customer-relevant processes
- Conducts chemical analyses, quality control testing, mechanical property evaluations, and application testing
- Supports product and process development, scale-up, and transfer to manufacturing
- Provides technical support to Polynt’s manufacturing sites for commercial products
- Assists customers with product formulation and provides purchasing support
- Qualifies raw materials and conducts lab/project work as needed
- Trains junior team members, R&D members from other groups, operations or commercial personnel, or customer personnel on synthesis, formulation, or application processes
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry or related science/engineering field, or M.S. in chemistry or related science/engineering field with a minimum of 2 years of work experience
- Experience in laboratory practices and technical problem-solving
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and certifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with SAP and Polynt App
Qualifications
- Knowledge of business unit technology in one or more chemistries, applications or processes
- Established contacts with other Polynt functional groups, suppliers, and customer base
- Able to interact with these contacts independently and keep supervisor informed
- Understanding of applicable standards, certifications, and statistical analysis software
Skills
- Highly skilled in laboratory practices and technical problem-solving
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Independent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with SAP and Polynt App
- Knowledgeable about applicable industry standards and certifications
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software
